"Catacombs do not have locked doors; it's their darkness people get lost in. Amias is the light that will guide your mind as you travel though the Catacombs."

"Liquid Plastic by Amias takes you on a journey of reflection and introspection. Her profound honesty will shake you to your core yet will leave you yearning for more. I found the imagery in her poetry to be so vivid and colorful that it made me feel at times, that I was present and included. As in her poem Liquid Plastic Episode I & II when she describes her relationship with her mother she writes:"
"these were days
when a strong stout woman
was a man's dream
if you know what I mean
still a sharecropper's life
depended on a good stout wife
to make ends meet
to turn cotton sacks into white sheets
and make vegetables taste like meat
momma had skills
the white folks used to kill for
but she saved my daddy with them"
And later in the same poem:
"If raw honesty offends you pass me by
because it hurts me to tell a lie
knowing my pain will make you cry
Onion and I became fast friends
he was a boy forced to be a man
a good companion for a girl
playing a woman's role"
"Amias expresses a young life lived in poverty, through prejudice and fear of the "men in white sheets," enduring sexual experiences forced upon her innocence that molded and shaped her through pain and emotional trauma that will fill you with empathy."
"In an excerpt from "The Lioness' Roar" she writes:"
"Most of the times, the disintegration of a family comes about when we fail to use its most valuable resource; the grandmothers. Instead, most grandparents are being left to rot in ghettos, or shut away in nursing homes, where they die unwanted and unloved. How sad this is, when we all know that they are the glue which holds the family together."
"Her poem "Just Rapping" is another favorite as she expresses the often high cost of a woman's loyalty to her man."
"In her poem "Amias' Bermuda Triangle" you may identify closely with her first stanza:"
"I feel myself being shrouded
by the spirits of my ancestors
long gone from my world
but embodied within my subconscious"
"The beauty of her words in "A Taper's Life" astounds."
"She had waited for his love
through child bearing and fantasies
though the seasons of her life
passes like fleeting clouds on a windy day
she had waited until her mind
could no longer retain the fantasies
falling prey to unfulfilled love
and unabated passion
she surmised that
his love had been a mirage"
"In her wonderful poem "Color Me Love" this excerpt stands out in my mind:"
"On my way to the Grand Canyon, I saw a vendor selling flags on the side of the road as I passed through Alabama. Rebel Flags of every size fluttered in the wind. My first thought was that this is a very prejudiced person. Then as I got closer, I saw the vendor had posted, in very large letters "Selling History Not Hatred." I laughed until I cried."
"Amias has an infinite capacity to understand and share in the plight of women, embracing them all as her sisters, supporting them with her generous love."
"I have included so many excerpts from Amias' poetry because I feel that taking a peek at her work is the best way to honor her art. So I will leave you with her words from her poem "Amias Unveiled" in her last stanza:"
"my poetry is my experience
created for sharing the many roads
to my self-realization
blessed be to all that have
or will cross my path
for indeed
I am something to behold"
"And that she certainly is! I encourage you to buy a copy of LiquidPlastic, for it will make you laugh and cry and leave you breathless wanting to read a sequel. Congratulations on your wonderful achievement Amias, and I wish you much success."

“In her new book, LiquidPlastic, Amias bears her soul. She shares with us her torment, fear, love, courage, and so much more in this wonderful book. In a way, LiquidPlastic is autobiographical, and in other surprising ways, parts of the book could be the story of any of our lives. It’s that real. Amias’ voice speaks to all of us when she says “No matter how hard you try, you can’t always live a lie; sooner or later the truth is revealed, the veil falls down, and a liar loses a crown.” To me, this statement captures the essence of the story shared with us by this brave, loving and talented woman. It’s a recommended read to all seeking a mirror to better see their life.

After reading LiquidPlastic, only four words come to mind: "Read it and weep!" Wow! It pitches you smack in the center of the circle. Where you became a speck, a dot... looking out and seeing everything so clearly... the light... the dark... and everything in between... leaving one with a true sense of wholeness...
